St. George’s, Grenada: Seven (7) prominent businesses in Grenada involved in the supply of refrigerants and/or refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment were recognized and awarded for their invaluable contribution and outstanding efforts in the protection of the Ozone Layer.

As part of the activities planned by the National Ozone Unit (NOU), Energy Division, Ministry of finance and Energy on September 16th to commemorate International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, the businesses were each presented with an Ozone Layer Protection award.

The businesses receiving the awards were those who consistently participated in the programs and initiatives of the National Ozone Unit to phase out the consumption of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) in Grenada as well as those who through their own initiatives introduced alternative ozone friendly products and technologies.  The businesses that have been recognized and awarded were those that have also already discontinued the importation and sale of equipment that utilizes ozone depleting substances.

During the week of International Ozone Day, these businesses participated in the “Ozone Cool Spot Promotion” that featured the ozone friendly products and services they offer.

The seven businesses that were awarded were: Jonas Browne & Hubbard (G’da) Ltd., Courts Grenada, L A Purcell, CoolingTech Grenada Limited, B L International, SP’s International Trading and SNJ Electrical.  The awards were presented by National Ozone Officer, Mr. Leslie Smith.
